As per the Government announcement of the removal of vaccine mandates, we plan to move ahead taking effect from 4 April 2022.

Below are the requirements for Tertiary Education at ORANGE LEVEL:

  • Orange is not a lockdown.
  • You will always be able to access basic needs services, such as food and healthcare.
  • You can travel anywhere in New Zealand for any reason, and see friends and whānau.
  • Tertiary students can attend classes, lectures, labs, workshops, tutorials, and meetings.
  • Staff and Students will no longer be required to present a My Vaccine Pass.
  • You can visit cafes and bars, attend gatherings and events, and go to the hairdresser and gym. There are capacity limits and distancing requirements at some venues.
  • Workplaces and schools are open.
  • Keep physically distanced wherever possible.

Mask Use
Under the Orange setting mask use outdoors is no longer mandatory. That said, we encourage mask to use, particularly in public areas (including foyers or our library), lecture rooms, one-on-one meetings, and poorly ventilated areas. Please respect the choices that individuals make in wearing masks. They’re still commonplace in many parts of our lives and our campus/offices are just another areas where you can expect to see others wearing a mask.  For more information on mask-wearing for education providers visit

Room Capacity
Under Orange, we will moderately increase the seating in rooms as needed to support the delivery of lectures and a good learning environment.  It’s important that we still provide sufficient spacing in enclosed rooms and that we enable as much ventilation as possible.
