Pathways On Tour 2023

We are happy to share that the final leg of Pathways on Tour will be held in Wellington and Christchurch. We hope you can come.  Please register below.

Wellington - 28 October 2023

Speaker #1: Elliot Rice

Topic:  Worship and Trinity:  In recent years, a popular worship song has taught us once again to sing the Apostle’s Creed: “I believe in God our Father, I believe in Christ the Son, I believe in the Holy Spirit: Our God is three in one!” Beautiful words—but what do they mean, and what difference does the Trinity make for our worship? In this session, we’ll see how the difference is everything, as we rediscover the joy of participating in Trinitarian worship.

Speaker #2: Dr Richard Goodwin

Topic: Is This the Way? The Mandalorian, Machismo and Ministry. The Mandolorian has captured the imaginations of millions of Star Wars fans around the world—but what might its depiction of religion say to and about Christian faith? The show's central character adheres to "the Way", a religion mixed with violence. Similarly, recent critiques of evangelicalism reveal a troubling undercurrent of violent masculinity in strands of the church. Against this backdrop, we examine how to do ministry training people up in the true Way.

Date: Saturday, 28 October 2023
Time: 9.30am - 12.30pm (option to stay for lunch, $18pp)
Location: The Street Church - City, 9 Hania Street, Mt Victoria, Wellington

Note:

  • This special event is running alongside Pathways School of Worship Day (SoWL).

  • Please register for each person attending.

  • Please RSVP by 20 October 2023.

Christchurch – 25 November 2023

Speaker #1: Craig Ashby

Topic: Blood is Thicker Than Water: Anabaptists and the Radical Reformation.

500 years ago, the Protestant Reformation changed the world. Aside from the more famous Reformers (Luther, Calvin), a small group of Christians, the Anabaptists, had a profound impact for their radical definition of the Christian life, commitment to Scripture, and courage in the face of persecution. Be inspired by the stories of the Anabaptists, and discover how much of our modern Christian belief and practice (and even some of our social values) owes a debt to the path they pioneered.
